Microsoft has announced their acquisition of the professional Networking site LinkedIn. The deal is worth $26.2 billion and should be completed by the end of the year. LinkedIn has more than 433,000,000 members worldwide and has recently introduced a mobile app which has already resulted in a 49% growth in members and over 60% using the site via a smart phone.
Microsoft believe that closer integration with LinkedIn via its successful software cloud based software Office 365 and Dynamics it’s CRM option, will enable members to engage with their connections, manage their diaries, research companies and build more effective relationships, along the lines of the social networking site Facebook.
LinkedIn has established itself as a popular recruitment tool for Companies and for jobseekers looking to promote themselves to potential employers via their profiles. With over 7,000,000 active job listings on the site, an increase of over 101% year on year, this is a valuable resource for employers and employees alike.
