All online shopping websites, online merchants and E commerce websites have been required to carry SSL certificates for two years, but 2019 will see that applied to all genuine business websites. An SSL encryption certificate, with a green padlock, gives a guarantee that visitors to that website are in a safe browsing area and that the business website has been independently checked and verified by the SSL provider.
In addition to the authentication, an SSL certificate also provides encryption, so you know that you are sending information to the correct server and not a spoof website trying to steal your information. Google are telling us all that they will flag all websites without SSL certificates as “unsafe” and will not allow visitors to go there without accepting responsibility to do so.
